Feelings on Racism in Korra
I gotta say: it’s a shame to see people post rants about Korra and Racial issues. It doesn’t matter what race Korra, or Mako, or Bolin, or anyone else is. It’s a tv show we all know and love. Just because we may give one of the characters a real life representation of a specific race doesn’t mean that anyone is being racist. So what if I post Korra as a white girl??? That doesn’t mean I’m anti-black. In a fandom, there shouldn’t be any stupid racisism. For the people that think this, you shouldn’t even be here. Seriously. This is just a tv show. No one cares what color anyone’s skin is. This isn’t about white-supremacy, or black power. It’s about a whole world that all us in the fandom want to be part of. So stop the complaining. NO ONE CARES.

Yes, its a show we all know and love. That’s why its important. Little children-little brown children-look up to these characters.
Just because we may give one of the characters a real life representation of a specific race doesn’t mean that anyone is being racist. So what if I post Korra as a white girl??? That doesn’t mean I’m anti-black.
It definitely means you’re switching to the “white is default” mindset. Even though Bryan and Mike said Korra-and all Water Tribe folk-are based off of the Inuits which is, you guessed it, ASIAN. They are also brown.
In a fandom, there shouldn’t be any stupid racisism. For the people that think this, you shouldn’t even be here. Seriously. This is just a tv show. No one cares what color anyone’s skin is.
The fact that I didn’t start to regain self esteem until I saw Katara and Sokka-the first people on television that I could really, really relate to means that it matters. I care. When I first saw the kids on the Avatar premiere, I was shocked that they were brown. If I were in the AtLA/LoK world, I could probably pass for Water Tribe due to my skin color. And sure it may just be a tv show, but this stuff does influence children.
This isn’t about white-supremacy, or black power. It’s about a whole world that all us in the fandom want to be part of. So stop the complaining. NO ONE CARES.

In a NPR interview Neil Gaiman said that the book was essentially for Lenny Henry because they were having a convo about how there are no sci-fi/fantasy films with a main Black cast and Neil Gaiman told him that he would write him one in hopes it would be made a film.
And when the producers approached him saying they wanted to change all the Black characters to white and remove the fantasy elements all together thus destroying the whole reason he made the book he rejected them

Shading Dark skin is so much easier
It was soo much easier when I was first learning how to use photshop back in ‘05 the tutorials they had were pretty much all for pale skin and they were pretty as fuck but I had Black OC’s that I wanted to colour. So what did I do I searched deviantart for great artwork that had brown skin people, discovered The Boondocks and try and then I used the most awesome tool that ever existed on photoshop
Now for those who don’t know this glorious, magical, splendiferus tool called the eyedropper can allow you to same the same colour from anything. For example I used it the other day when colouring in the lineart that Riley drew of Ain from The Arkh Project.
I got a page from the fanart comic strip and used it on the hair, skin and eyes and boom and since I basically rushed it all I used was the dodge tool and the burn tool for highlights and shadows.

White History Month facts because we need to know all about White History since it’s always left out and deserves it’s own month because there is a lot of White History we do not know about.
Black history month in the UK is on October and USA it’s on February. Every year White people say why is there no White History month there should be a White history month because nobody teaches White history in schools
